At South Austin Counseling, fees are determined by individual providers, based upon experience, education, and background. Please see our "Meet the Counselors" page and click on desired counselor to access rates and availabiility.
We are a private pay practice, and we work hard to keep our prices affordable for clients. This means we are not contracted with insurance companies to provide counseling services.
If you are covered by a plan that offers out of network benefits, we can help you complete your reimbursement paperwork and/or provide you properly coded receipts that you may submit to your insurance company to seek out-of-network reimbursement.* Please contact your health insurance company to see if you are covered with out of network mental health benefits at the number listed on the back of your insurance card.
*Reimbursement for services from your insurance company requires that you have a mental health diagnosis and depends solely on your plan benefits and eligibility.
*We encourage you to consider all that is involved when attempting to claim therapy sessions through your health insurance company. A therapist must make a diagnosis in order for your insurance company to consider your claim. Couple/relationship problems, parent/child problems, normal grieving, or "just having a hard time", may not be covered by insurance which means the therapist will have to diagnose you, your partner or child in order to get the session covered by insurance. A diagnosis will then become a permanent part of your medical record. For this reason, we recommend not filing with your insurance if you can afford the service.
Our Licensed Professional Counselor Interns (LPC Interns), Licensed Marriage and Family Associates (LMFT Associates) and Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSWs) provide services, while they gain advanced clinical experience while working under the clinical supervision of more experienced, senior clinicians, who are board-approved supervisors in their respective fields. All clinical associates have earned graduate degrees (Masters or Ph.D.) and are provisionally licensed by the state of Texas to provide counseling services during this phase of their careers. Please read below if you’re interested in learning more about LPC Interns and LMSWs.
