“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” ― Viktor E. Frankl
Welcome to South Austin Counseling Services! My name is Jennifer Merrill. I believe that everyone’s story is important, and you deserve to be heard and understood. Better yet, you deserve to understand yourself. Life’s challenges are real, and they can be tough sometimes. Maybe you are feeling depressed, anxious, or angry much of the time. Maybe you have felt disconnected or even in conflict with your significant other, friends, family, or children. Relationships are such a big part of life, and when they are not going well, it can cause a great deal of distress. In working together, we can explore how your past is affecting your life currently, how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are related, and build skills and knowledge to become more in tune with your emotions and regulating them. In addition to being a trained individual therapist, I have completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which focuses on helping couples manage conflict and increase closeness and friendship.
Whether you are seeking therapy as an adult, couple, teenager, child, or family, you are in the right place. We can work together on issues such as relationships, conflict, communication, anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, emotional regulation, family of origin experiences, life goals and values, body image, self-esteem, spirituality, and finding more meaning in life.
I value creating a warm accepting environment for clients from all walks of life. If you feel like I might be a good fit for you in working together, I would love to meet with you.
