Hello! My name is Nancy Puga, and I am in my final field placement as a Graduate Student-Intern, supervised by Tammie D. Martin, M.Ed., LPC-Supervisor. It is my belief that effective therapy involves a genuine human connection. It necessitates all involved to be physically and emotionally present and have the courage to be vulnerable.   My goal as a therapist is to ensure my clients feel safe, fully accepted, unconditionally supported, and aware that their well-being is my first priority.

My family is a blended family of 7 children and 5 beautiful grandchildren. I have six years of school counseling experience, and I enjoy working with children, adult individuals, and  families and helping them move toward accomplishing their goals. My experience varies in areas of anxiety, depression, grief and loss, behavioral issues, and trauma-related issues. In addition, I have helped my clients work through self-esteem issues, separation/divorce, and other challenges they might encounter.

I believe my role is to help my clients recognize the key to their solutions comes from focusing on their strengths they have previously used to overcome life’s challenges. I help my clients recognize their strengths, develop goals and commit to change. My interventions are always based on individual needs and the goals that we have established together.  I integrate principles from Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and decisions are made in combination with the client’s values, ideas, and preferences.

I genuinely see my work as a privilege; a great opportunity to journey with people through their most difficult struggles, comfort them when they experience deep pain, share in the distinct pleasures and challenges of family, the relief of the healing process, the unique trials and challenges of life…it truly is an honor.
