“Enter into children’s play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts and souls meet.” -Virginia Axline

Welcome! I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Registered Play Therapist, National Certified Counselor (NCC), and graduate             of the professional counseling program at Texas State University. I have a passion for working with children, teens, and their families and helping my clients heal through             a trusting, safe, and collaborative relationship. My career with children began over 10 years ago, when I became a Pre-K teacher and later a 2nd grade teacher. Teaching                 children will always be a passion of mine, however my greatest passion lies in fostering the social, emotional, and mental well-being and development of children and                   teens. In 2014, I became a school counselor in Austin ISD and am currently still in this role at my elementary school. I also enjoy working with young adults.

Having the opportunity to work at South Austin Counseling Services (SACS) gives me the ability to help children, teens, and families on a deeper and more meaningful level than I can as a school counselor. As a therapist at SACS, I hope to help my clients heal and overcome any obstacles life has thrown their way. Such obstacles include navigating complex emotions, low self-esteem, attachment issues, anxiety, self-harm, aggressive behaviors, and past or present trauma. In our sessions, I will always keep our goal in mind and draw from a variety of counseling approaches including child-centered play therapy, mindfulness based techniques, sand tray therapy, and expressive arts techniques. Additionally, I believe it is important to include parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process and will support you in developing strategies that best help your child feel capable and confident. While therapy can seem like a scary and uncomfortable process, it is my goal to help the children, teens, and parents I work with to feel as comfortable as possible and work as a team to reach therapeutic change.
