Hello! My name is Corey Jones, and I am a Counseling Intern with South Austin Counseling Services. I am
completing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health at Our Lady of the Lake University. My experience
ranges from a variety of trauma-related issues including, but not limited to, anxiety/depression, grief
and loss, anger management, suicidal ideation, and self-esteem. I enjoy working with teens, young adults,
families, and couples. I genuinely believe that trauma does not discriminate, and many have suffered
traumatizing events. It's essential to address those traumas/challenges to minimize their power to
dictate your life outcomes.
The therapeutic modalities I incorporate are Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), a type of brief therapy
focusing on solutions rather than problems. It is a collaborative and goal-oriented approach that
emphasizes identifying and building on a person's strengths and resources to achieve their desired
outcomes. Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), the primary goal is to Increase self-acceptance and self-
esteem—personal growth, and self-expression. Minimize negative feelings (such as defensiveness,
regret, guilt, and insecurity). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of talk therapy or
psychological counseling that focuses on how a person's thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes influence their
feelings and behaviors.
Taking the first step in becoming your best self in therapy can be scary, but I am here to help assist and
support you on your journey. I offer a non-judgmental, safe, and belonging space for my clients, where
we can build a strong therapeutic alliance to help promote collaborative efforts in healing, coping
mechanisms & strategies. As you take this leap, I will surely help guide you.
