“Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey." The Alchemist
Hello! My name is Kathryn Wristen, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), working under the clinical supervision of Tammie D. Martin, LPC-Supervisor. I am dedicated to creating positive relationships by listening with an open heart and mind.
My area of clinical work focuses on children and adolescents. I have experience in school-based suspension and juvenile prevention programs with elementary through high school-aged students. Working with this population allowed me to connect with young individuals going through mental health and/or behavioral issues, substance use, grief, family incarceration, life transitions, conflict-resolution, and individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.
I enjoy providing Play Therapy as a therapeutic intervention, because the techniques enable children and adolescents to communicate, express feelings, modify behaviors, problem-solve, and relate to others while naturally playing. I can tailor or modify expressive arts techniques to best fit the presenting issue and age of the person receiving counseling services.
I believe that children and teens have the right to express who they are and what they feel. I provide an environment that fosters growth and empowerment. Life can be difficult, but everyone deserves a space where safety and acceptance are fostered. Together, we can determine how to navigate your child’s unique and individual journey. I am honored to be part of it.
